Tooth Extraction in Elma, NY
At Springbrook Family Dentistry, we offer a wide array of preventive and restorative services to maintain a healthy smile. We will almost always try to save a damaged tooth; however, it may be in the best interest of your overall oral health to remove the tooth.
There are several cases where Dr. Jennifer Finney may determine that the best course of action is extracting the tooth. A tooth may need to be extracted because of severe decay, advanced periodontal disease, or damage that makes other types of treatment impossible. In other cases, we may need to remove a tooth because it’s not positioned properly in the mouth (such as wisdom teeth) or in preparation for orthodontic treatment or complete dentures.
The prospect of having a tooth extracted can be challenging for anyone, even for patients who are not necessarily anxious about dental visits. However, in the hands of an experienced and caring dentist like Dr. Jennifer Finney, tooth extraction doesn’t need to be stressful or complicated.
We Cater to Your Needs
The goal of our team is to build trusting, long-term relationships that help us get to know you and understand your needs better. That way, if it is necessary to extract a tooth, you’ll feel calm and relaxed knowing that you’re being cared for by friendly, familiar professionals who only want the best for you.
We want you to be involved in your dental care and won’t decide on any type of procedure until we’ve answered all your questions and explained the reason for the procedure. At this time, we'll also discuss tooth replacement options like dental implants, bridges, and dentures, and which may be most appropriate for you. For instance, if you decide you'd like a dental implant placed after extraction, we may recommend bone graft surgery that will be performed by Dr. Finney at the time of extraction.
If you’d like a little extra help with your anxiety during the extraction procedure, we’re pleased to offer safe, effective nitrous oxide sedation. Nitrous won’t make you go to sleep, but it will help you feel pleasantly relaxed and calm so you’re less aware of what’s happening around you.
After your procedure, we’ll send you home with instructions, then follow up with a phone call that evening to check in and see how you’re doing.
