Nitrous Oxide Sedation in Elma, NY
Fear of dental visits means different things to different people. You may find that the smells and sounds of a dental office bring back memories of a bad experience as a child. Many people also get anxious because they think the treatment will hurt.
A Gentle, Caring Approach
At Springbrook Family Dentistry, we understand that dental anxiety can make it a challenge to schedule appointments and get the care you need to keep your mouth healthy. We want to show you that high-quality dental treatment can be easy when your stress is managed with appropriate care and sedation.
We’ve found that a caring and compassionate approach can go a long way toward helping you overcome your anxiety. You may feel embarrassed about your fearful feelings, but millions of others feel exactly the same way you do. We’re sensitive to those feelings and will do everything we can to support you and make your dental care as stress-free and comfortable as we can.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
The purpose of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is to reduce your level of anxiety, minimize discomfort, and produce a calmer, happier emotional state. Nitrous oxide has been used extensively since the 1860s and has proven to be a safe and effective method of sedation. In fact, it’s so safe that it is often used to help children relax during dental treatment!
You don’t have to worry that nitrous oxide will put you to sleep. All you have to do is breathe normally and a comfortable nasal tube will deliver a safe mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide. You’ll smell a faintly sweet aroma and, in no time at all, feel a sense of relaxation and well-being. Many of our patients describe the feelings as tingling, happy, and drowsy. You will remain awake and aware, so you will still be able to communicate with our team as needed.
Nitrous oxide will calm you just enough so that you can get the care you need without stress or worry. Aside from the calming effects, many of our patients appreciate nitrous oxide sedation because there are no lingering effects. As soon as we stop administering the nitrous, you will be able to immediately return to your normal daily activities.
Overcome Your Anxiety and Get the Care You Need
